A Day of Stunning Scenery, Seagull Showdowns, and Fishy Finances
Today, we hit the road towards the Lofoten, driving through jaw-dropping landscapes. The views were nothing short of spectacular, but sadly, most places didn’t offer spots to stop for photos. So, while the scenery remains etched in our memories, our cameras are almost empty.

We made a pit stop in the heart of Svolvær for some good ol’ fish and chips. Now, while this dish might be a simple meal back in the UK or the Netherlands, the Norwegians apparently like to charge you for the privilege—price tag well over the top! But the weather was on our side, with the temperatures rising and the skies turning a brilliant shade of blue, making it a pretty sweet spot to relax.

As we sat on the terrace, fearless seagulls swooped down like they owned the place, picking at the leftovers right off the table (see photo). These birds couldn’t care less about people being around—they’re pros at scavenging.

We also took the chance to look up our next campsite via the ASCII website. These spots tend to cater to both tents and the overwhelming number of campers that seem to populate this area. Seriously, the number of campers here is mind-boggling!
Once we reached the campsite Kabelvåg Feriehus & Camping, we found a cozy spot and set off for a brisk 3 km hike through the woods to a nearby supermarket. Stocked up on groceries, we’re ready to cook up something a little fancier tonight thanks to the campsite’s kitchen facilities.

Back at camp, I had a face-off with two seagulls that decided to dive-bomb me—multiple times! After I gave them a proper scolding and waved my arms around like a madman, they finally backed off. Guess they realized who’s boss. 😁😂
We also managed to squeeze in a bit of laundry, though it didn’t fully dry. We’re leaving it out and crossing our fingers that the early morning sun (around 4:00 a.m.!) will do the rest before we pack up to leave.
Tomorrow, we’ll head towards Moskenes, where the ferry departs for Bodø. We’re taking it easy, likely catching the ferry the morning after to stretch out the adventure just a bit longer.
