Leaving Luxury Behind: Onward to Barczewko
This morning, we skipped the usual routine of packing up the tent—thanks to the unexpected luxury of our hotel stay. By 7:30 AM, we enjoyed breakfast, and by 8:30, we hit the road.
Our destination for the day was Barczewko, where we had found a promising campsite online. A quick phone call confirmed it was open, which was a relief after yesterday’s closed campsites. We used the ACSI website, which has proven valuable—it only lists open campsites, making the search so much easier.
One thing we’ve noticed on the road is the increase in military vehicles—a sign of the times, perhaps, but it’s definitely getting busier out there.
This evening, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the campsite’s restaurant: pike-perch with rice and vegetables for just 15 euros—a bargain! It was almost as affordable as if we’d cooked ourselves, which made the convenience even sweeter.
Tomorrow, we’ll be heading into Lithuania, with Kaunas as our target. We’ve already scoped out a few campsites in the area and are eager to see what the next stretch of the journey brings.
